The girl behind Coco Dee Wanderlust

Coco Dee Wanderlust

Hi there! I am Danielle and I am the energy behind Coco Dee Wanderlust ~ Travel & Adventure Lifestyle blog. Here, I will tell you my own dream chasings and my own adventures. Travelling, food, adventure and working on my own terms are the things that make me want to get out of bed every day.

I am a big believer in creating your own course. Partly I believe in faith and serendipity. The other part of me truly believes you are the captain of your life. You decide where to set sail to. With Coco Dee Wanderlust I want to show others that dreams can come true. With hard work, great effort and an open mind, you can do anything in the world. This Travel & Adventure Lifestyle is to set an example, that we can chase waterfalls!

I have learned that there are so many reasons why you shouldn’t open that business, or why you shouldn’t travel the world. I also learned, you only need 1 reason why you should.

Let me start by saying I consider myself a very spontaneous and energetic person. I always try to be positive and considerate to others. Also, I believe in fairytales and I like to shoot for the stars. And I am truly convinced I can do anything and be anything I want.

Having said that, the reason why I am who I am is a sad story. Because I realise I am probably overcompensating for the difficult life I’ve had so far. Although the last few years have been better.
When I was 12 years old, my father died suddenly. My mother was completely lost, which is understandable, only she had two kids to raise. I felt like I had to protect my younger brother and I grew up faster than I should have. My grandmother took me under her wing, while my mother had distanced herself from the rest of my family. While struggling in life and experienced many more difficulties before I reached 18, I had to decide who I wanted to be.

My grandmother was a huge influence in my life, and I am so, so grateful for her. She left us when I was 18 and that was the first funeral I had to arrange by myself. I like to believe that she and my dad planted the positivity and the life energy in me. So I decided I want to make the most of life. I decided I didn’t really care about what everyone wanted me to do. I decided I wanted the world.

When life gives you lemons

Despite all the horrible things my brother and I had to go through, we had each other. During University I got the chance to study in different countries in Europe. I met awesome people with powerful (and sometimes similar) stories and I saw beautiful places. I got a taste of life. I wanted to know more and I wanted to see more. I thought my life couldn’t get any worse than it had already been, so I changed my mindset into a ‘seize the day’ – kind of thing. I am happy I did. ‘Cause I got to discover that life is amazing.

Dream big and shoot for the stars

I actually never tell this story, but it is important for me to understand who I am. People understand me better when they know this story. And it explains a bit why I am chasing waterfalls, why I dream big and shoot for the stars. Life is too short to settle for less. I won’t look back on my life and say ‘if I had only’. I refuse to do that. I want to be able to say ‘boys and girls, your grandma had an awesome life!’ Even if I won’t succeed to do everything I want. At least I tried. And please, no one give that BS about saving money for a pension, settle down and that sort of crap. I will figure out life like I want to, thank you very much.

Pineapple quote

Be a pineapple and stand tall

So here I am, trying to be an inspiration to others. To inspire to keep your chin up and chase your waterfall. No one is going to do that for you. I just want to make sure you won’t have any regrets when your old and wrinkly.
